What does the term condemnation mean?

Condemnation can actually have two meanings in the law. One meaning is if there is an old rundown home that poses a danger to the general public, a government entity may actually do what’s known as condemnation where they go in and tear the building down. They have no future use for the property. It’s down for police power, for safety purposes. The condemnation that we’re involved in is known as eminent domain. Eminent domain is where the government has a specific set of rules to follow and once they follow the rules, they’re able to acquire private property.
